Dan’s work spans the project lifecycle, from landscape analysis and program design to project implementation, data system development, and impact evaluation. His strategic approach is grounded in partnership: bringing community to the table and leveraging DA’s decade of co-creation and co-implementation partnerships with national and local technical expert organizations to ensure policy makers have access to cutting-edge solutions.
Dan focuses on building the internal capacity and community relationships required for organizations to accelerate delivery of projects addressing communities’ most pressing needs. He prioritizes cross-cutting solutions that accrue multiple co-benefits, supporting equitable transitions from old systems while minimizing unintended harm. He has worked with every type of social impact organization: federal, state, and local governments; philanthropies; community and advocacy groups; non-profits; and mission-driven for-profit companies.
Dan has facilitated the core teams designing, launching, and delivering multiple major climate and community innovation programs. Collectively, these programs have helped 30 cities deliver >140 innovative climate policies, allowing them to exceed their projected 2025 Paris Agreement contribution; are supporting another 25 cities to co-develop and deliver innovative new solutions at the intersection of climate and equitable impact; and have helped 1,500 cities and towns maximize access to federal funding (BIL and IRA), including $2.4B won to date.
Dan has expertise in sustainable energy, buildings and transportation systems, climate finance, strategic planning, program delivery, data systems, and tool development and deployment. He is an expert facilitator of diverse groups of all sizes, including multi-day in-person workshops and convenings. He is continuously growing his experience in anti-racist, community-driven, results-based change management.
Dan was an engagement manager in McKinsey & Company's NYC office, where he supported foundation, government, and healthcare clients on large-scale, analytics-driven strategic and operational transformations. Previously, he helped the United States EPA stand-up and deliver a $6B green water infrastructure funding program in collaboration with state and local leaders as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Dan is also an alumnus of the Environmental Defense Fund's Climate Corps program, where he helped a U.S. department store chain improve the energy efficiency of its retail locations.
