Creating and facilitating the tools, resources, and trainings to help DA’s team members share and learn from one another and help governments, foundations, and public sector partners turn big ideas into real impact.

Job Description

As the Manager of Knowledge and External Capability Building, you’ll play an important central role, helping DA’s team members around the world become more effective and efficient. You will build and support systems for knowledge management and learning that ensure our team members have the tools they need to help clients deliver impact.

DA works closely with governments at every level, all over the world, to implement policy in a way that translates to real outcomes for everyday people. We do the same for foundations and social impact organizations, helping turn innovative programs into lasting impact. In short, we help public sector partners get things done. We use a clear methodology to solve problems and help our partners deliver results. We’re successful in part because we master our approach and in part because we are empathetic, resourceful, level-headed, and dedicated to our clients and the people they serve.

Our Knowledge and External Capability Building team is responsible for creating, curating, and codifying the tools and resources that help our team members help our clients and partners deliver. We create and manage the systems for ensuring we capture and share new knowledge and innovations emerging from DA’s work around the world, develop learning products and curricular materials to help colleagues and clients learn and apply our framework, and build team members skills to support clients. We are seeking an expert in curriculum design, program design, and/or knowledge management to support our efforts.

Skill sets.

We are looking for someone in this role specifically who can:

  • Create high-quality tools and resources: Create curricular materials and resources to help our team members, clients, and partners learn and apply our Deliverology® methodology.
  • Build and manage knowledge management systems: Organize our approach to knowledge management, to ensure our team members can learn and share with one another and access the tools and resources they need.
  • Develop and manage learning programs: Design a user experience and interactive workshops for virtual and face-to-face learning programs and help build this skill in our team members.
  • Work comfortably across different learning platforms: Including virtual and face-to-face; facilitated and asynchronous learning experiences.
  • Build relationships: Earn trust and influence among our team members around the world. Key internal relationships include but are not limited to: regional leaders, board members, our manager for learning & development, and our head of knowledge.
  • Facilitate and coach: Run effective meetings and workshops that drive towards problem solving and consensus; build the capacity of our team members to serve as coaches and facilitators for others.
  • Write and present clearly: Turn complex problems or insights into clear memos and well-structured slides; speak clearly and concisely in remote and in-person settings.
  • Prioritize and manage projects: Bring clear structure and planning to day-to-day work and communication.
  • Solve problems: Break down problems and identify root causes before developing hypotheses and solutions.
  • Stay focused: Navigate complexity, especially in policy and program implementation, consistently steering large coalitions back to a single-minded focus on priority outcomes.

We work well with people who are:

  • Adaptable: Public sector work is dynamic. Our people are, too.
  • Analytical: We identify, dissect, and solve complex problems.
  • Accountable: We are a remote team. We work collaboratively but self-sufficiently; oversight is often minimal.
  • Driven: Our work is important, so it’s important we do it well.
  • Curious: We never stop learning from our clients, colleagues, and partners.

Our people come from a variety of backgrounds and we’ve done this long enough to know that what matters most is your skill set and your mindset. We’re open to lots of backgrounds as long as you can show us you’re an analytical thinker, a clear communicator, a team player, and an avid learner.

Required Skills/Experience:

These are the basics.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant, full time work experience in curriculum design, adult learning, knowledge management, or product design
  • Experience in adult learning
  • Business-level English skills

What We Offer:

  • Opportunity to shape the future trajectory of a fast-growing firm and grow with it
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
