As a Project Manager, you’ll work on a global effort to help cities from across the world bring bold, innovative urban ideas to life. Delivering consistently high-quality implementation support to a cohort of cities with wide geographic, language and cultural spread requires effective project management.

Job Description

To ensure a smooth, coherent city experience as well as effective partner engagement, you will:

  • Uphold the overall project roadmap and coordinate implementation cadence across global regions, guaranteeing high standards of progress across the cohort. The Project Manager will work closely with the consulting team to ensure that the overall roadmap is delivered and that opportunities/risks are identified in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate across implementation partners: Ensure smooth partnerships and that the expertise from other partners enhances rather than hinders overall city outcomes.
  • Report on impact and progress: Build and implement a robust reporting system that captures both performance progression and stories worth disseminating to the growing city network and the broader community of public innovators.

Skill sets:

You will work closely with the delivery team to:

  • Prioritize and manage projects and work streams:Bring clear structure and planning to day-to-day work and cross-functional communication. 
  • Manage relationships and contracts with external partners: Executing the project management from beginning to end, as well as guaranteeing a smooth relationship to external partners along the way.
  • Model and analyze data:Turn raw data into robust diagnosis and actionable insights, whether through excel or other platforms.
  • Solve problems:Break down problems and identify root causes before developing hypotheses and solutions to be discussed with leadership. 
  • Write and present clearly:Turn complex problems or insights into clear memos and well-structured slides; speak clearly and concisely in remote and in-person settings. 
  • Execute at consistently high quality: display bias to action, ability to simplify complexity and distill what matters most to generate insightful output and move things forward at a fast pace.
  • Stay focused:Navigate complexity, especially in policy and program implementation, consistently steering large coalitions back to a single-minded focus on priority outcomes.

Experience. 

Many of our people have backgrounds in management consulting, public sector implementation, government, philanthropy, think tanks/policy research, and international development. Some come from startups and tech. But we’ve done this long enough to know that what matters most is your skill set and your mindset. We’re open to lots of backgrounds as long as you can show us you’re an analytical thinker, a clear communicator, a team player, and an avid learner. 

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

These are the basics.

  • A minimum of 5 years, and very likely more, of relevant, full-time work experience in project management, either from working in government (at all levels), government-serving management consultancy, philanthropy, or adjacent fields. We would particularly welcome those who have expertise in working with partners set up and manage implementation-focused organizational structures (e.g., PMOs or similar)
  • Proven experience in handling complex, multiregional, and dynamic projects from beginning to end. Ability to deploy tools and resources to monitor, measure, and share project results/impact in an effective manner to a senior audience
  • Superb organizational skills and proven capacity to juggle multiple projects, workstreams, and requests
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to produce clear, concise, and compelling narratives rapidly through a combination of expert prose, use of data, graphics, and exceptional engaging storytelling
  • Highly independent and accountable, with the ability to efficiently complete many complicated tasks without close supervision (e.g., in a remote-office arrangement)

Other requirements

  • Bachelor's degree. A masters in a relevant field (business administration, public policy, project management) will be an advantage.
  • Availability to start as early as April 2022.
  • Must be based in Latin America
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
